About the mountain

Know the place.

Mt. Bachelor rises above the high desert of central Oregon near Bend, a dormant volcanic cone that delivers one of the Pacific Northwest's most distinctive ski experiences. At 9,065 feet, the summit offers 360-degree skiing — an unusual feature that spreads terrain across every aspect of the mountain and provides a variety of conditions and exposures throughout the day.

With 4,318 acres of skiable terrain, 12 lifts, and runs spanning every ability level, Mt. Bachelor is the largest ski area in the Pacific Northwest by some measures. The volcanic geology creates open, bowl-like terrain on the upper mountain, while glades and groomed runs fill out the lower elevations. The high desert climate keeps the snowpack drier than resorts to the west of the Cascades.

Bend below the mountain has grown into one of the Pacific Northwest's most vibrant small cities, adding world-class dining, craft brewing, and outdoor recreation culture to an already compelling ski destination. Together, the mountain and the town make a strong case for Mt. Bachelor as a full destination trip.
